    Game Mason: Hosted by Student Involvement and the Center for the Arts (CFA), in collaboration with GMU Esports and the computer game design program, this year’s event at the Fairfax Campus on March 3-4 had classic arcade games like Pinball and Ms. Pac-Man, an Esports tournament, and more.

    “An evening like no other,” ARTS by George! makes its in-person return on September 24. The philanthropic event, headlined by Emmy® and Tony Award winner Kristin Chenoweth, raises support for student scholarships in visual arts, dance, music, theater, game design, film, arts management, as well as for the Mason Community Arts Academy, Green Machine Ensembles, and the Great Performance at Mason season at the Center for the Arts.

    Honors College freshman Maia Ocampo sees her identity and experiences as a Filipino-American woman as a strength that will aid her in her future career. “I’d like to see more women in the game design field. Men have dominated this field for many years, and I think it's time for women to show what they’ve got,” says Ocampo.

    Game alum Alex Estep wanted to pursue animation as a career. After 2 years at community college I saw that Mason had a new Game Design program. I hoped this program would provide me the opportunity to pursue animation and digital arts as a career.

    Game alum Kyle Bishop says there are some outstanding faculty members who come from the game design industry and who really put a lot of effort into ensuring the students grow the necessary skills and abilities to succeed. We were also exposed to most aspects of the industry which has been very helpful.

    President Washington spoke on Oct. 14 at a Mason Korea event in Horizon Hall on the Fairfax Campus, as part of a week-long series of events celebrating his Investiture. Participants gathered in person and virtually from the Mason Korea Campus.
