George Mason University Korea kicked off its 10th anniversary celebrations with a lively reception that brought together Mason Korea students, faculty, and staff, current and past leaders, visitors from George Mason's Fairfax Campus; and members of the Mason Korea advisory board.

In its fourth year, Mason Korea's Progress@Play Digital Art Competition continues to grow with more than 300 teams from eight countries competing.

George Mason University Korea announced on the 25th that it will hold an exhibition for works that passed the first screening of the '4th Social Impact Digital Art Contest' until the 7th of next month.

Mason Korea student Juyoung Cha is just weeks away from reaching the finish line in Fairfax—earning her BFA in computer game design. In May she plans to walk proudly across the graduation stage in EagleBank Arena along with her younger sister, Subin Cha, who is a Mason Korea student in accounting.

ARTS by George! returned on Saturday, September 30, 2023, hosted by the College of Visual and Performing Arts (CVPA) at George Mason University. The benefit event, which was headlined by GRAMMY and Tony Award winner Renée Elise Goldsberry, raised more than $275,000 for student scholarships in visual arts, dance, music, theater, game design, film, arts management, as well as for the Mason Community Arts Academy, Green Machine Ensembles, and the Great Performances at Mason season at the Center for the Arts.

Prior to the special performance of Renée Elise Goldsberry in Concert headlining the evening, College of Visual and Performing Arts students showcase their talents in visual arts, music, game design, dance, and more. “An evening like no other,” ARTS by George! returns on September 30 for an evening that showcases the remarkable talents of Mason students amid an array of spectacular food and beverages, culminating with a special performance by Broadway superstar, Renée Elise Goldsberry in Concert.

Foteini Baldimtsi, an assistant professor in Mason’s Department of Computer Science, and James Casey, an associate professor in Mason’s Computer Game Design program, help us understand what the metaverse is, or will be, and how the volatile world of cryptocurrency fits in.

In the in-depth interview, the three professors discussed Mason’s multidimensional Computer Game Design program, which is designed to reflect the gaming industry’s demand for an academically rigorous technical program coupled with an understanding of the artistic and creative elements of the evolving field of study.

Game Mason: Hosted by Student Involvement and the Center for the Arts (CFA), in collaboration with GMU Esports and the computer game design program, this year’s event at the Fairfax Campus on March 3-4 had classic arcade games like Pinball and Ms. Pac-Man, an Esports tournament, and more.
