Break Through Tech at Mason partners with the Grace Hopper's Celebration (GCH) conference to bring together diverse women in the technology space.

The College of Engineering and Computing (CEC) launches first-of-its-kind Computing and Engineering Diversity Resource Information Center (CEDRIC) to provide resources for students, faculty, and staff.

Students, faculty, and staff are encouraged to discover new initiatives from the Office of Diversity and Inclusive Learning as the College announces BLAST Off week. Blast stands for belonging, leadership, accessibility, success, and transformation all of which will be part of this week-long event.

George Mason University is the most diverse and most innovative institution in Virginia according to the latest rankings by U.S. News & World Report for its 2022 Best Colleges List, reflecting the university’s mission of providing access to excellence. Six programs made the top 100, including engineering, which rose 16 spots in the past year.

Associate professor Nathalia Peixoto living her childhood dream of combining her love of teaching and engineering while mentoring young women. She meets with minority students, sharing stories of her journey, providing guidance on job searches and applying to graduate school, and tips on finding a lab to conduct research while an undergraduate.  

As a child growing up in Mumbai, Vinee Moradiya loved to cook. But when her uncle inspired her to pursue an education in computer science, she was eager to follow suit.

On July 26, the first-ever Break Through Tech at Mason Guild program kicks off with a group of more than 60 women from Mason and Northern Virginia Community College who want to learn more about technology and computing.

Last fall, faculty teams were invited to submit proposals describing thematic hiring opportunities. The decision committee evaluated 14 proposals for innovation and timeliness, alignment with Mason strengths, recruiting plans and hiring strategies.

This is the National Society of Black Engineers Week, with festivities taking place all week.
