In This Story
The National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine released its new report, Launching Lifelong Health by Improving Health Care for Children, Youth, and Families, on September 19, 2024. Alison Evans Cuellar, professor of Health Administration and Policy, served on the study panel that produced the report. Intended to address the stagnation of pediatric health care in the U.S., Cuellar leant her expertise in health care systems and health policy to the panel.
Even though medicine and developmental science have made great strides, the panel notes that pediatric care and the promotion of the health and wellbeing children has lagged. The report sets five goals and suggests corresponding actions for achieving and sustaining equitable child and adolescent health care. The country’s future rests on the shoulders of its children.
Ensuring that every child is on a path to a healthy and productive adulthood is imperative.
