George Mason University welcomed 229 “Junior Patriots” to its campuses on April 24 for the annual Take Your Junior Patriot to Work event. Faculty and staff had the chance to bring the children in their lives to campus and experience life at George Mason for a day.

The hugely popular Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE!, based on the Emmy Award-winning #1 PBS Kids TV series, has delighted live audiences on stages across the country. Now, on October 15 at 2:30 and 5:30 p.m., families’ favorite characters are hopping on Trolley to Fairfax with Daniel Tiger’s Neighborhood LIVE: King for a Day!  

Richard Todd Stafford taught youths about water quality and pollution indicators through the “Walton Wednesday” program. The program encourages youths to learn about environmental science and outdoor recreation. Stafford facilitated a hands-on experience monitoring water pollution.

George Mason University faculty and staff were invited to bring the children in their lives to campus for Take Your Junior Patriot to Work Day on April 27. In this collaborative event organized by Human Resources and campus partners, the “Junior Patriots” got to experience life on a university campus and find out what it’s like to work at Mason for a day.

As the student enrichment coordinator in George Mason University’s College of Education and Human Development, Caroline Masakayan helps organize a variety of student activities. She also supports student organizations and the college’s two learning communities. Outside of work, Masakayan volunteers as a court-appointed special advocate (CASA), helping children experiencing tough living situations, abuse, and neglect.
