    Debbie Cohen started working in George Mason University’s Office of University Advancement and Alumni Relations in fall 2023. Before coming to George Mason, she worked in another realm of education: as a middle school teacher. Her passion for education fueled her involvement with another activity outside work: Cohen serves as a volunteer mentor with College Bound, Inc., a Washington, D.C.-based nonprofit serving public and charter school students in grades 8–12.

    Pending the imminent announcement of the university's new learning management system, 15-20 faculty members across all disciplines and faculty types are needed to become LMS mentors starting in the spring 2024 semester.

    Samantha Kanselaar and Julia Mandeville are among the first group of recipients of the Mentoring for Anti-Racism and Inclusive Excellence (MARIE) program, a new initiative sponsored by George Mason University’s Office of the Provost. The program offers mentoring support and funding for graduate students’ project ideas that advance the university’s values of access, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
