Winter Commencement

George Mason University will celebrate more than 5,000 students graduating or earning certificates in the Winter Commencement ceremony at 9:30 a.m. Thursday at EagleBank Arena.

Inspired by her parents who immigrated from Mexico in search of a better life for their children, Ashley Alvarado-Lopez is following the path her older sister by graduating in winter 2023 with two degrees from Mason.

Paul E. Misener, a scientist, lawyer, engineer and innovator will be the featured speaker at George Mason University’s 2023 Winter Commencement ceremony. The ceremony will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, in EagleBank Arena on the Fairfax Campus.

UMGC President Gregory W. Fowler, who will speak at Mason’s Winter Commencement on Thursday, December 15, discusses how Mason influenced his career path, the future of online learning, UMGC’s shared commitment to diversity and accessibility, and the gift of listening.
