George Mason University cybersecurity and information technology students won challenges in two recent major hackathon events, one on March 25 at the University of Virginia (UVA) and another on April 7-9 at the University of Maryland (UMD).

On October 1, Honors College Connects (HCC) held its second annual Hackathon. The Hackathon is an opportunity for students to come up with creative solutions to issues that various local nonprofit organizations face. Participants spent the day going through the brainstorming and development process, giving peer reviews, and presenting their final ideas to each nonprofit.

This year, two events will take place simultaneously: PatriotHacks, the signature hackathon focused on software programming, and HackOverFlow, a new hackathon with a focus on hardware engineering.
