A recent SCHEV-conducted analysis of Virginia’s public four-year institutions shows George Mason University topping or leading most peers in a variety of metrics, including growth, opportunity, value, efficiency, return on investment, and state economic impact. President Gregory Washington reviewed the data with the Board of Visitors at the governing body’s Feb. 22 meeting.

The Board of Visitors approved several actions and watched a number of presentations during its Nov. 30 meeting.

Virginia Gov. Glenn Youngkin on Wednesday, June 28, announced four new appointments to the George Mason University's Board of Visitors.

George Mason University is seeing a steady increase in research awards, fall enrollment numbers and in its number of graduates, based on reports to the Board of Visitors at their May 4 meeting.

Mason is recommending a $300 tuition increase for the 2023-24 academic year, but the in-state undergraduate tuition increase will be eliminated pending Virginia General Assembly approval of the university’s broader funding requests in the pending state budget.

Mason alum Horace Blackman was elected as rector of Mason’s Board of Visitors in July, after serving as vice rector for the past two years.

Mason's five-year plan, titled “Mason Is All Together Different,” received BOV approval at the governing body’s Dec. 1 meeting. The plan identifies five broad priorities, with specific strategies and actions for each.
