BS in Community Health graduate Kristen Alleyne accredits her College of Public Health courses for giving her the skills and confidence to excel in diverse public health settings.

George Mason University scientists, nurses, and researchers in the College of Public Health have just entered the second cycle of a National Institutes of Health (NIH) program called Environmental influences on Child Health Outcomes (ECHO).

While working on their master’s degrees in social work at George Mason University, College of Public Health alumni Kendall Barrett, Madeline Holden, and Harveen Pantleay took part in field research on ageism in health care and are now using those skills in their careers.

As an intern at Mason, Rudra Nagalia actively contributed to developing the initial prototype for the Remind-H app. This pivotal experience ultimately influenced his decision to return to Mason to pursue his degree and delve deeper into this research focus.

While useful technology, drones can pose a serious security risk. Systems engineering and operations research undergraduates Dyar Aziz and Markus Garretson are working to develop a methodology for inferring drone intent based on sensor data. 

Fuse at Mason Square will give student researchers like Soelem Aafnan Bhuiyan a dedicated space for globally impactful research.

Public Health PhD student research examines topics such as barriers to cervical cancer screening for those with disabilities and the impact of chemical exposure on premature births. 

2023 MPH graduate Ryan Shelton simultaneously worked to address zoonotic diseases and the mental health crisis among health care workers, transforming his passion to help others into a position as an ORISE Fellow at the CDC

Even though the COVID Public Health Emergency is over, PhD in epidemiology student Kevin Cevasco’s and his advisor, Amira Roess’ research on digital contact tracing has potential to influence policy improvement surrounding mobile health

Samantha Kanselaar and Julia Mandeville are among the first group of recipients of grants for a new initiative sponsored by George Mason University’s Office of the Provost. The program offers mentoring support and funding for graduate students’ project ideas that advance the university’s values of access and inclusion.
