The spike in Coronavirus cases could force hospitals into tough choices because of limited resources.

George Mason University officials are encouraging those who are eligible to go ahead and schedule their third COVID-19 vaccine doses or booster shots to best help keep the entire community safe.

For Master of Public Health (MPH) student Jorge Garcia, the COVID-19 pandemic provided an opportunity to obtain real-world experience in infectious disease surveillance by applying the skills he learned throughout his MPH courses while working at the Fairfax County Health Department.

Mandatory vaccinations and a return to wearing masks indoors on campus are two of the primary tools George Mason University will use this fall to provide a safe living, learning and working environment.

Mason's Michael Buschmann and his team have developed technology that could help make COVID-19 vaccines less costly, with fewer side-effects and more available.

The entire Mason community is being asked to upload their vaccination status by Aug. 1.

There are currently no COVID-19 cases among Mason's more than 50,000 students, faculty and staff
