Mason roundtable helps create more opportunities for government contracts

George Mason University will host the Small and Minority-Owned Business Roundtable on Jan. 24 to inform regional and state businesses owners and operators how they can compete for contracts related to an infrastructure and jobs act recently passed by Congress.

The George Mason University community came together on the Fairfax Campus on Thursday to celebrate more than 4,600 graduates.

With one-third of the federal workforce eligible for retirement, now is an opportune time for college students to consider pursuing internships and careers in the federal government, Kiran Ahuja, the director of the U.S. Office of Personnel Management (OPM), said Monday in a visit to George Mason University.

Mason President Gregory Washington thanked the university community at the Board of Visitors (BOV) meeting on Thursday for its efforts to manage the pandemic and shifted focus toward the goals he announced in July to “transform the campus and move it from a good campus to a great one.”

George Mason University is disbursing millions of dollars in CARES Act funding to more than 14,000 eligible students this fall, with the latest funds to be awarded in early September.
