Fellowships

George Mason University graduate student Truman Deree is one of 20 students (one of five graduate fellows) awarded a 2024-25 Virginia Museum of Fine Arts Visual Arts Fellowship. He received the award for his photography, which he also shares at TrumanDereePhotography on Instagram.

Mason graduate student Archana Vardhan was one of 20 students nationwide selected for a summer fellowship through the Association of Maternal and Child Health Programs. Her area of expertise is the mental and physical health of postnatal mothers of color.

Christopher Kardambikis, associate professor in the School of Art, was recently named the Fenwick Fellow award recipient for 2023-24.

Honors College alumni, Abigail Hawkins, has been selected for the prestigious Congress-Bundestag Youth Exchange (CBYX) for Young Professionals program. Hawkins, who graduated from Mason in May 2022, majored in global affairs with concentrations in human security and Middle East and North Africa Studies, and a minor in Arabic.  

Two George Mason University graduate students have been awarded prestigious Boren Fellowships.

Jasmine Okidi, a third-year University Scholar studying English, was selected as Mason’s first-ever recipient of the Beinecke Scholarship.

Bioengineering undergrad Medhini Sosale wins one of the highest rewards—the Goldwater Scholarship—in the U.S. for undergrad students interested in developing STEM research careers.

Gabrielle Jackson was awarded a Fulbright U.S. Student Grant, widely recognized as one of the most prestigious international exchange programs, with only 8,000 grants awards each year.
