More than two decades ago, three George Mason University students launched a company from their dorm room with a belief that technology would drive change in the federal government. Today, that company—MetroStar, a venture-backed leader in AI enabled services—has come full circle. The company is proud to announce a multi-year strategic partnership with George Mason, solidifying a shared mission to empower the next generation of tech leaders and public servants.

As the use of underwater, aerial, and unmanned ground vehicles continues to grow, it is critical that the fuel cells necessary to power these systems operate safely, while providing durable and optimal performance. High-performance hydrogen sensors, which monitor leakage, energy efficiency, and durability under a wide range of operating conditions, are key to this function.

Kevin Hicks brings ample engineering and leadership experience to his new role creating cutting-edge research spaces for George Mason University’s College of Engineering and Computing. 

Hemant Purohit, an associate professor in George Mason University’s Information Sciences and Technology Department, has built his career at the intersection of human and computer interaction, training people and computers to work of one another's strengths.

In the construction trades, engineers and builders are constantly pursuing concrete mixes that provide greater durability and strength. Moreover, concrete adaptations that are biodegradable and nontoxic with reduced greenhouse gas emissions attract even more attention. The potential cherry on top of both would be if the adaptation could result in lower production costs. 

A multi-major team from George Mason University’s College of Engineering and Computing earned second place at Saucethon, a hardware-focused hackathon, gaining online attention for their creative cat-themed rescue robot and showcasing George Mason’s collaborative, interdisciplinary strength.
