George Mason’s rankings soar for internships, upward mobility, and innovation

According to the latest rankings from US News & World Reports, the School of Nursing Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) ranks among the top programs in Virginia and across the nation. Across public institutions, the BSN places within the top 100 (#86) and is the top 4 program in Virginia. U.S. News and World Report previously ranked the Doctor of Nursing practice program #1 among public institutions and the Master of Science in Nursing #4 among public institutions.

George Mason University is Virginia's leading university for value, upward mobility and internships, and ranked in the top 25 nationally for innovation according to U.S. News & World Report's Best Colleges 2025 released today.

CNBC has named Virginia America’s Top State for Business in 2024, and the No. 1 state for education, dual distinctions that highlight George Mason University’s impact as the largest and most innovative public university in Virginia and a top 50 public university nationally.

George Mason University’s Student Health Services (SHS) is one of 462 health care facilities to receive the “LGBTQ+ Healthcare Equality High Performer” designation from the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's 2024 Healthcare Equality Index. 

Overall, Mason has 19 graduate programs in the top 50 among public universities and 13 programs in the top 50 of all universities nationally.

The George Mason College of Public Health has achieved major advancements in the latest U.S. News & World Report rankings, marking a moment of recognition for its commitment to academic excellence and innovation in health education. The institution proudly announces that five of its programs are now ranked among the top 100 in their respective fields, with two distinguished graduate degrees—the Master of Nursing (MSN) and Doctor of Nursing Practice (DNP)—securing positions within the top 10.

The College of Public Health is pleased to announce the latest U.S. News & World Report recognizes the Master of Social Work (MSW) is nationally ranked in the top 70 of its discipline. The MSW is #67 nationally, ascending 12 spots from the 2024 rankings, affirming the tremendous strides the College has made in social work education.

2025 U.S. News & World Report recognizes Mason’s College of Public Health in the top 60 public health graduate schools.
