    George Mason University has been recognized as a Bicycle Friendly University by the League of American Bicyclists for promoting safe, accessible bicycling on campus. The League of American Bicyclists is a grassroots advocacy organization encouraging better bicycling and protecting the rights of people who bike.

    As the fall 2023 semester begins, Mason students, faculty and staff are reminded that traffic on and around the Fairfax Campus greatly increases, especially during the first few weeks of the semester. This campus parking and transportation guide with information on Mason Shuttles, visitor and non-permit parking options, biking, carpooling and other transit options will help minimize potential parking and traffic delays.

    George Mason University received the Metropolitan Washington Council of Governments’ (MWCOG) Commuter Connections 2023 Employer Recognition Award for the Incentives category. Josh Cantor, Mason’s director of Parking and Transportation, accepted the award at a ceremony held at the National Press Club in Washington, D.C.

    As term associate professor of statistics, Kenneth Strazzeri stays busy teaching about 300 students each semester. Beyond his passion for teaching, Strazzeri discovered two new interests in recent years: running and biking. This hobby is now his major mode of transportation, as well: commuting to Mason by bike has offered Strazzeri motivation and an opportunity to improve as an athlete.

    George Mason University Commencement and Degree Celebrations will be hosted on the Fairfax Campus from Thursday, May 18, through Saturday, May 20. Heavy traffic is expected on campus between 8 a.m. and 9 p.m. each day.

    Campus Drive and Rapidan River Road will be milled and repaved from March 20–24. Work will occur between 6 a.m. and 6 p.m., weather permitting. Traffic changes will be in effect.
