Biography
Dr. Salmon is Associate Dean, Emerita, Graduate Studies, College of Visual and Performing Arts, George Mason University. She retired May 2014 from the position but continues her work supporting CVPA. Fall 2019, Dr. Salmon was appointed Chair of the Arts at Mason Board, after serving several years as a director and member of the Development Committee. After completing her term as Chair (2023), Dr. Salmon remains dedicated to fundraising for the College. She received the George Mason University Alumni Service Award in 2022.
Dr. Salmon has been an adjunct with the Arts Management Program since 2015. She serves as the professor/coach/mentor for her students in AMGT 795 Capstone/Portfolio. Her teaching philosophy centers on the process of writing, breaking down capstone projects, theses, and dissertations into manageable components. In addition, she worked with initial leaders in the Scholarship of Teaching and Learning (SOTL) discipline. Dr. Salmon has given numerous lectures and presentations on SOTL, composition theory, and thesis and dissertation writing; she has taught over 200 students how to write their theses or dissertations.
Dr. Salmon earned her D.A. from Mason after earning a B.A. and M.A. in English from Georgetown University. Dr. Salmon served on Georgetown University’s Board of Regents for six years, three as Vice Chair of the Board, coordinating the Regents’ three Task Forces: Undergraduate Learning Experience, Research and Science, and Inter-religious Dialog.
Dr. Salmon spends her summers and holidays with her family of 17; often gathering on the Outer Banks, which can be boisterous and energetic.
