Biography

Tariq Kamal is an assistant professor in the Information Sciences and Technology program in the College of Engineering and Computing at George Mason University. His professional career consists of activities ranging from Industry, Teaching, and R&D projects. He has worked as a senior software engineer developing cloud-based solutions for conducting clinical trials to accelerate the drug discovery process. Dr. Tariq Kamal’s research mainly focuses on the IoT, Data Engineering, and Cloud Computing. Specifically, he is interested in the applications of cloud computing, IoT, and Machine Learning in Agriculture, Healthcare, and Urban Infrastructure. Dr. Tariq Kamal has collaborated on several research projects with academia. He has worked on a USAID-funded project on the application of IoT towards smart energy systems. He has also worked with the Agriculture Department on the application of IoT and AI towards precision agriculture.
