Adjunct Faculty, HAP

Biography

Nancy Freeborne, an adjunct professor, has worked in many capacities in the health care sector and at two universities-both named after famous Georges. She has a biology degree from Lafayette College, choosing to do a B.A. degree, rather than a B.S., so she could take extra courses in sociology and anthropology. After college, she obtained a Physician Assistant (PA) degree, and she has practiced as a PA in internal medicine, geriatrics, and women’s health. She later worked on and received an MPH in health administration after which she practiced as a PA at George Washington University’s (GWU) Geriatric Clinic while serving as the manager. From there, she transitioned to GWU PA faculty and eventually oversaw some of the GWU School of Medicine and Health Sciences community outreach as Director of the ISCOPEs (Interdisciplinary Student Community-Oriented Prevention Enhancement Services) Program.

After receiving a Doctorate of Public Health in Health Behavior, Dr. Freeborne joined the Global and Community Health Department of George Mason University. She helped grow the popular Bachelors of Community Health and advised countless students. Dr. Freeborne was recruited to work as the Director of Operations at a Federally Qualified Health Center in Virginia, serving in that capacity for over a year. Most recently, Dr. Freeborne has transitioned to health consultant whereby she assesses FQHCs across the nation. She has kept her ties to GMU and is pleased to be part of the Health Administration Department, teaching courses to undergraduate and graduate students on the U.S health system.
