Biography

Kuo Tian holds a BE degree in civil engineering from Huazhong University of Science and Technology, and MS and PhD degrees in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Wisconsin. Before joining the Sid and Reva Dewberry Department of Civil, Environmental, and Infrastructure Engineering as an assistant professor of geotechnical engineering, he served as a research scientist and lecturer at the University of Virginia.

Tian’s research in geoenvironmental engineering is focused on the design and evaluation of environmental containment systems for municipal, hazardous, and radioactive wastes, as well as innovative geomaterials for sustainable construction applications. His research includes fundamental laboratory studies, practical field experiments, and the development of computer models.
