Biography
Jamie Johnson graduated with honors from Howard University School of Communications. With a degree in Radio, TV, and Film Production, he has produced commercial radio spots for many national major events such as: the NFL Super Bowl, the NBA Draft, Cash Money Records US Concert Tour, Master P’s - No Limit Records full arsenal of artist album releases, as well as recurring radio spots for the biggest nightclubs in the Washington, DC. Metropolitan area. In addition, he has significant professional experience in the Production Industry for the past 27 years.
Johnson’s audio production experience has afforded him the opportunity to work for a U.S. government subsidiary agency known as Radio Free Asia. Their mission is to foster freedom of press in Asian countries that repress free speech, as well as freedom of expression in journalism and broadcasting. In this capacity, Johnson has been a manager of many teams of professional producers who work tirelessly to achieve the Radio Free Asia's goal of freedom in journalism and freedom in broadcasting globally to a current audience of over 58 million people - and growing!
In addition, Jamie Johnson created his own production company (Crankhouse Production) in which he has garnered well over 500 professionally credited productions on national and international television programs and networks. As a GMU professor, Johnson’s objective is to be a key pivot point in student’s transition from being “a kid with a passion to an adult with a vision.” Whereas the courses and students that he teaches are highly respected within the George Mason University Film and Video Studies community, and beyond! As a professor, he is focused and very serious about his students being just as focused, mature, and above all disciplined in their practice. The focus and seriousness to compel YOU to “grow-up” and prove that YOU are indeed a young PRODUCER whose passion will evolve into a profession!
