Biography
Horizon Miguel is a DMV based dance artist, educator, choreographer, and K-pop cover dancer. A Maryland native, he began formal dance training at Baltimore School for the Arts. Following, Horizon graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Dance and minor in Women’s and Gender Studies (concentration in LGBTQ+ identities) on full-tuition dance scholarship from George Mason University School of Dance. At Mason, he performed works by Susan Shields, Andrea Miller, Alejandro Cerrudo, Mark Morris, Donald Byrd, Roger Jeffrey, and at Lar Lubovitch's 50th anniversary in the Joyce Theater.
Since graduating, Horizon has worked with Terre Dance Collective, PrioreDance, and Haus of Bambi. Currently, he is a dancer with Company | E performing at the Kennedy Center and Battery Dance Festival, and internationally in Kazakhstan, Thailand, the UAE, and Palestine. Additionally, Horizon has danced in Todrick Hall's music video "Wig", set choreography presented in Dogtown Dance Theater, Atlas Performing Arts Center, and Theatre on the Run. He teaches a multitude of styles at studios and institutions in the DMV and has been a guest teacher at Srinakharinwirot University, and Suan Sunandha Rajabhat University.
When performing as a soloist in the K-pop dance cover scene, Horizon often performs and presents under the stage name Mwah (무아). His love for K-pop and academia lead to the creation of the first collegiately accredited K-pop dance course at South Korea's Incheon Global Campus through Mason Korea in 2020. Since then, Horizon has been invited to host K-pop panels and workshops at multiple Asian pop culture conventions like Otakon, Holiday Matsuri, Supercon, and AnimeUSA. Additionally, he performed with K-pop idol Alex Reid of BP Rania at D.C.'s Korean Cultural Center in 2021 and has received awards personally at K-pop dance cover competitions from Rolling Quartz and JustB.
