Biography
Abdul Hafeez is an assistant professor in the Department of Health Administration and Policy at George Mason University. His research focus revolves around the applications of computer science in cross-disciplinary domains such as healthcare. He enjoys collaborating with biologists and physicians to find solutions to novel problems in healthcare using machine learning, data mining, and cloud computing. He has designed and developed approaches to detect diseases at their early stages from the raw data arising from biological probes. Furthermore, he has used machine learning approaches in projects such as detecting skin cancer from open-source datasets, detecting COVID-19 from chest radiographs, and used a cloud-based machine learning technique to detect the vital signs of a patient. Prior to Mason, he was a consultant data scientist, developer data scientist, and data engineer with start-ups, healthcare, and the fintech industry.
