Alumni Weekend: Go Back to Class for Expert Advice

During George Mason University’s Alumni Weekend, alumni can improve their career search skills, maximize their health, explore the ins and outs of college admissions and talk with President Cabrera about the future of Mason.

On Saturday, Sept. 20, from noon to 2 p.m., alumni are invited to “Lunch and Learn” with Mason faculty and alumni. Sessions include

  • “How to Get a Job in Today’s Market” with staff from University Career Services
  • “From Mason Alumnus to Prospective Parent,” with staff from Office of Admissions
  • “Strategies for Buying or Selling Your First House,” with Mason alumnus Allen Johnson, BA English ’99
  • “How to Defy Your Age and Maximize Your Health” with Patrice Winter, MS ’10, assistant professor of rehabilitation science
  • A talk by Mason mathematics professor Padmanabhan Seshaiyer and Dean Peggy Agouris of the College of Science, on the application of mathematics to the “real world”
  • “Women in Business: Finding an Edge in the Workplace,” presented by Mason management professor Mandy O’Neill

At 2 p.m., University President Ángel Cabrera will join alumni for coffee, dessert and a conversation about the future of the university and how Mason graduates can be involved.

These events will take place in the third floor of the Johnson Center on the Fairfax Campus; there is a $5 fee for lunch, and registration is required.
