Abdelwahab Gohar, Maddy Manning, and Binglei Ni completed their project through the Conversation, Communication, and Connection class, a class in the Honors College in which students explore how the introduction of the internet has changed the way people communicate, and whether online interactions foster or shut down conversation. Students in the class collaborated together to create podcast series focused on these issues.
Gohar explained how the diversity of the group helped them explore the class topics. “It fit perfectly into our project, which was all about different cultures.”
Learning how to create a podcast and scheduling guests was a challenge for the group, but it was ultimately worth it. “Never give up,” Gohar said. “We found a creative way around the recording issue, and I feel like I’m pretty good at finding creative solutions and critical thinking.”
The multidisciplinary collaborative skills fostered by the Honors College curriculum through hands-on courses like this one will enable them to take on complex challenges in their majors and beyond.
