Kyeung Mi Oh, associate professor in the School of Nursing, won the prestigious Awards for Publication Excellence (APEX) 2024 Award of Excellence in the category of Writing Topics - New Technology for her study on reducing bias and stigma associated with medication-assisted treatment. The APEX Award of Excellence recognizes publications that have demonstrated outstanding work in graphic design, editorial content and the success of the entry in achieving overall communications effectiveness and excellence.
“This award highlights our commitment to pioneering study and curriculum development within the College of Public Health and affirms the innovative approach we took in our training, curriculum revisions, quality evaluation and program evaluation and the impact it can have on the field,” said Oh. “Sharing the lessons we learned from this experience has contributed significantly to advancements in the nursing profession and improvements in population health. This recognition underscores the importance of our work and its role in shaping future healthcare practices.”
Medication-assisted treatment 24-hr waiver training for opioid use disorder: Lessons learned was published in May 2023 in the Journal of the American Association of Nurse Practitioners. The research team was comprised of faculty Kyeung Mi Oh, Cheryl Oetjen (PI), and Megan Harvey, and doctoral students Krista Beran, and Zamilus-Osabu Myriame.
