George Mason University’s Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) programs have been fully approved, again, by Virginia’s Board of Nursing (VA-BON). Re-approval affirms that all George Mason’s traditional and accelerated BSN pre-licensure programs meet all Virginia regulations and requirements for educating nurses prior to their licensure examination.
“VA-BON’s approval confirms what we already know about our undergraduate degree program—we are preparing future nurses with the skills and knowledge they need to become licensed registered nurses and improve the health and well-being of our national and local communities,” said Margaret Rodan, acting director of the School of Nursing. “I am grateful for all of our faculty, staff and clinical partners who contributed to the self-study process, and the work they do preparing our students to deliver superior nursing care in the increasingly complex and challenging field of modern health care.”
The approval process requires extensive documentation of the school’s curriculum, clinical practice, faculty, and student success rates, as well as a VA-BON campus visit. VA-BON continued approval is required every 10 years.
