Statement on the Closure of Philadelphia's University of the Arts

Faculty, staff, and students in the College of Visual and Performing Arts at George Mason University are deeply saddened by the news of the closure of University of the Arts. This loss ripples outward to all members of the community of artists around the world.

To the impacted students, please know that your incredible talents and skills are of the greatest value. There are numerous colleges and universities, in the Philadelphia area and beyond, who will be thrilled to welcome you to support your journey forward in the arts. If you feel that George Mason University is the right place for you to continue your journey, please do not hesitate to reach out to the Mason Arts team. Our advisors and staff are ready to answer your questions and help you navigate what such a transition would look like based on your unique needs and future plans. To the faculty and staff colleagues impacted by this closure, please know that we stand in solidarity with you. As artists, we know that difficult times are meant to be weathered together, with the company and support of friends. Know that many, many friends are here to support you through this event. We are confident that you will each find a new path forward very soon.
