Spring Up!
As I write this, a warm wind is blowing the remnants of February out to sea, and stirrings in the earth are already pushing bits of green and yellow into view. It’s another set of signals that, even if it’s delayed by a day in this leap year, Spring is about to be sprung. I love those seasonal stirrings, no matter which direction they point; the first frost in the fall and the first buds in the spring both bring a deep sense of the rhythm of the natural world, a reminder that change is always just around the corner.
But you don’t need a calendar or a thermometer to provide a harbinger of changing seasons—you’ve got the Hylton Center newsletter before you right now, bursting with so much energy that it might just blossom right before your eyes. Here you’ll read about exciting performances in our various artist series, from Matinee Idylls to American Roots to the Family Series and, of course, our signature line-up, Hylton Presents. You’ll read about one of George Mason’s great student ensembles that makes a regular visit to the Hylton Center. You may be inspired (and amused) by a story of generosity that resulted in a delightfully unique name for one of our classrooms in the Education and Rehearsal Wing. You can find out more about the Veterans and the Arts Initiative that continues to grow its mission of service with innovative and impactful programs. And much more besides.
So if you are also feeling the stirrings of Spring, those urges toward renewal and reconnection, follow them to the Hylton Center these next couple of months. We are in full bloom, ready to feed your heart and soul, and your eyes and ears, with the sights and sounds, the energy and warmth, of a brand new season.
See you at the theater!
