2024 Gala honorees Sam and Lillian Hill

The Hylton Performing Arts Center's 14th Anniversary Gala is fast-approaching on Saturday, April 27, 2024! Purchase your tickets today and help us celebrate an evening honoring Sam and Lillian Hill and The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation, two champions for arts and education throughout our region.

Sam and Lillian Hill have been engaged and involved residents of Prince William County for nearly 20 years. Dr. Sam Hill was the provost of Northern Virginia Community College’s Woodbridge Campus for 17 years, retiring in 2022. Lillian Hill has had an outstanding 39-year teaching career, teaching hard of hearing preschoolers in Illinois and Virginia before retiring in 2018.

They are familiar figures here at the Hylton Center, supporting our work through their Copper Circle membership, participating in the Take a Seat campaign, serving as co-chairs of the capital campaign, and attending performances regularly. Their engagement in Prince William County extends beyond the Hylton Center, including current board and community service for the Potomac Health Foundation, Manassas Ballet Theatre, Lake Ridge Rotary Club, Northern Virginia Family Services, and serving as a Food Rescue Hero for the Northern Virginia Food Rescue Program.

The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation are also a familiar name to Prince William County residents, supporting a wide range of charitable causes for the past 35 years. The Hylton name is synonymous with the growth of the county, what with the family’s real estate development company, the Hylton Group, having built tens of thousands of homes and several commercial developments throughout the 1970s. You can observe their impact on this region in various ways, including the Cecil D. Hylton Memorial Chapel, C.D. Hylton High School (which is home to the Irene V. Hylton Planetarium), the Hylton Family Birthing Center at Prince William Hospital, and more. From providing a transformative gift to complete the construction of the Hylton Center, to a generous gift to ensure that members of the Arts Alliance could present their seasons at the Hylton Center rent-free amid pandemic-related financial burdens, The Cecil and Irene Hylton Foundation has empowered the Hylton Center to continue bringing the region world-class artistic experiences.

We are excited to honor these community leaders in person on the Merchant Hall stage on April 27! Join us for this special celebration! To learn more and purchase tickets, visit HyltonCenter.org/galas. For questions about Gala tickets or sponsorships, please contact dlamber4@gmu.edu.
