In honor of Veterans Day, the Veterans and the Arts Initiative is proud to sponsor The U.S. Army Band Star-Spangled Spectacular with guest Christopher Jackson (11/4) and American Roots Series’ Seven Voices – A Tribute to Patsy Cline (11/12). The Initiative will also support Hylton Center Arts Partner Manassas Ballet Theatre’s Colin: Son, Marine, Hero (11/9–11/11). Join us at the Hylton Center for these special performances as we honor our community’s Veterans through the arts.
Broadway star, Christopher Jackson, the original George Washington in Hamilton for which he was Tony-nominated, will join The U.S. Army Band and men and women of The U.S. Army Chorus to perform a selection of well-known songs from Hamilton (11/4). Hylton Center Arts Partner, Manassas Ballet Theatre (MBT) performs the powerful ballet Colin: Son, Marine, Hero (11/9–11/11) created in memory of MBT Artistic Director Amy Grant Wolfe’s son, Colin, who enlisted in the Marines and deployed to Iraq, but was killed by a roadside bomb only seven weeks later. American Roots Series performance Seven Voices – A Tribute to Patsy Cline (11/12) takes place in the intimate Gregory Family Theater where Jess Eliot Myhre of the Bumper Jacksons assembles local talent to honor the First Lady of Country, Patsy Cline, in an evening of classic renditions of Cline’s songs, as well as re-imagined versions with new instrumentation and creative arrangements.
