Three College staff members win Mason Outstanding Achievement Awards

This week, three College staff members are being recognized at Mason’s Outstanding Achievement Awards

  • Rene Ayala, IT Specialist – Exceptional Support Award 

  • Jade Young (Grace), School of Nursing Office Manager – Exceptional Support Award  

  • Holly Park, Director of Research – Outstanding Supervisor Award 

All awardees are nominated by their colleagues. Human Resources presents the Outstanding Achievement Awards to acknowledge the outstanding contributions of our Mason community and encourage the community to continue to focus on faculty and staff appreciation, recognition, and engagement as we “thrive together."

Said one nominator of Rene: “Rene engages faculty, staff, and students in contributing to the goal of creating a nurturing and caring environment that supports all members of our community in realizing their potential. Rene works with all units of George Mason to further student learning and faculty/staff well-being. Reflective in his work with improving systems and process are examples of his dedication to thriving together.”

One nominator said of Jade: “The School of Nursing (and by extension, College of Public Health) is grateful for her incredible work ethic and dedication as well as for her unique talent, mindset, and attitude. Her role expands beyond the day-to-day office work requirements to the smooth functioning of the department. She is always on top of her game and makes complex matters and processes easy to understand. Jade brings true professional attributes to George Mason University and genuinely cares about delivering excellent quality in everything she undertakes. She also always goes above and beyond the call of duty in pursuing excellence."

According to an announcement email sent by Staff Senate, who sponsors the Outstanding Supervisor Award, “Holly is a collaborative leader who values diverse opinions, teamwork, and creative thinking. She is flexible, adaptable, and resourceful in improving services to faculty and meeting shifting research needs as policies, systems, and best practices evolve. Park supports innovation by modeling and encouraging a collaborative and creative approach to problem solving. She creates an atmosphere of trust, earning the reputation for being ‘the supervisor you want to work for’ due to the support she shows her staff.”
