Three kings – the Magi – have traveled long and far to bring gifts to a child born in Bethlehem. They stop to rest for the night in the humble home of Amahl and his mother. What transpires is a story of generosity, pureness of heart, and an unexpected miracle. Amahl and the Night Visitors (12/2 and 12/3), is a musical production by the Dewberry School of Music’s Mason Opera and is a part of Mason Arts at the Hylton Center. This celebrated operetta by Italian-American composer and librettist Gian Carlo Menotti, has been a perennial favorite since its 1951 debut, when it became the first opera specifically composed for television in the United States. We can’t wait for you to hear George Mason University’s talented vocal students, accompanied by an instrumental chamber ensemble, tell this beautiful story.
