Hybrid Marketing and Communications Internship

Summer/Fall 2022

Options: 1-3 credits in ENGH459 or ENGH504 or no credit requirement

Fall for the Book, a non-profit literary arts organization based at George Mason, seeks a marketing and communications intern for summer/fall 2022 to prepare for the Fall 2022 festival. Find out more about us.

Main Duties & Responsibilities

  • Create and curate compelling social media content, including original graphics as well as finding interesting existing content to share.
  • Help plan and execute marketing and outreach.
  • Work with staff members during and between weekly virtual meetings to design a dynamic Fall festival and other virtual events to keep readers engaged.
  • Work any in-person outreach events and the in-person festival in mid-October.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate will be a graduate student or upperclassman in a related field (arts management, English, education, communication, film and video production) or the equivalent in experience, and be interested in pursuing 2 or 3 credit hours (between 5 and 10 hours per week). The candidate must be motivated, independent, and able to follow through on semester-long projects. Strong organizational, writing, and communication skills are a must. Proficiency with technology is important, including Canva, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Zoom, and Microsoft Office suite skills. Curiosity, openness, and an interest in the book world are important to being successful in this position.

Internship note: We ideally seek someone available to complete the internship from late July – the end of October. (A total of 15 weeks like a normal semester).  Any work occurring before the start of the Fall semester will be virtual. You could take the credit for Summer or Fall, depending on your schedule.
