Our Matinee Idylls series is back! These weekday afternoon performances are presented in the Gregory Family Theater – the perfect setting for intimate chamber music concerts. The series returns with a close-up view of popular selections from Virginia Opera in their annual chamber concert, A Taste of Opera (4/5). You’ll hear rising stars sing beloved arias, duets, and ensembles selected from recent and upcoming Virginia Opera productions. Up next and closing the Matinee Idylls 21-22 season is John Bullard. Experience the banjo as you’ve never heard it before – in a classical concert with John Bullard, featuring pianist Markus Compton (5/3). “This music also allows me to bring out qualities and possibilities in the banjo that have not been recognized,” Bullard says. “There’s an extraordinary symbiosis that happens between music and instrument.”
