If you are a fan of the visual arts, be sure to stop by the Hylton Center’s Buchanan Partners Art Gallery for a diverse offering of spring 2022 exhibitions by regional artists.
The 10th Annual Prince William County Public Schools Student Exhibition will be on view January 11 – February 20 representing original works of art by Prince William County Public School students, grades elementary through high school. This visual arts program prepares students to be visually innovative and to develop an awareness and appreciation for visual art. Next, witness the end result of liquid paint transformed into sculpture in Jenny Wu’s In the Aggregate (2/22—4/3). Like geological formations, Wu’s method of building up paint is dependent on time, repetition and chance with her resulting objects uniting chaos and order into a systematic imagery that blurs the boundaries between painting and sculpture. In April, take in Jayne Matricardi’s Motherscape (4/5—5/22), featuring the artist’s paintings, mixed media works, and poetry that explore the psychological landscape of motherhood.
