The Center for the Arts at George Mason University emphasizes the importance of accessibility for all of its audience members in a handful of ways.
Available by advanced request:
- Large print programs for all Great Performances at Mason events
- Audio-described performances
- American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation and captioned performances
- Mobility assistance (courtesy wheelchairs, accessible bathrooms, and seating)
For those in need of Assistive Listening Devices (ALDS), patrons may pick up an ALDS before show time at the Courtesy Desk in the Concert Hall or by asking an usher supervisor at Harris Theatre. The Center’s ALD system is compatible with FM, 72 mhz with headphones or loop. Patrons are welcome to bring their own headphones, which must have an auxiliary input to use with the devices. ALDS are not available at TheaterSpace.
Patrons needing accessible parking will find three locations close to the building, all of which will be kept track of by police staffing:
- The first is located along Mason Pond Drive on the street in front of the Center for the Arts with a limited number of spaces. There are signs and parking attendants to assist with directions or special needs.
- The second location is in the Mason Pond Parking Deck located next to the Center for the Arts. Specific locations are designated for accessible parking. There is a fee to park in the deck.
- The third location is in the James Buchanan Hall parking lot. This lot is located off Mason Pond Drive next to James Buchanan Hall.
Patrons are encouraged to take advantage of our designated drop-off zone as needed, which allows guests to be dropped off and picked up directly in front of the venue. The Center offers wheelchairs for transportation from the drop-off zone to one’s assigned seats and back.
For any patron who requires a Personal Care Attendant (PCA), a PCA Pass will be provided at no cost with a paid admission ticket. A PCA Pass grants entry into any Great Performances at Mason event at the Center. PCA Passes are delivered with purchased ticket(s), as selected by the ticket buyer through these methods: Will Call, mail, print at home, or digital ticket(s).
