The 2021-2022 Hylton Center season has something for everyone with a winning lineup of extraordinary indoor and outdoor entertainment! We are thrilled to announce a return to indoor performances this coming season with Hylton Presents, Hylton Family Series, and Matinee Idylls (spring 2022). Hylton on the Hill also returns in autumn with three knock out performances all set to a backdrop of colorful fall foliage. On April 30, Broadway favorite Leslie Odom, Jr. brings his Tony Award-winning star power to Merchant Hall in an electrifying Hylton Center EXTRA! concert for the Hylton Center’s 12th Anniversary Gala! Hylton at Home will also resume with select performances for online viewing.
Fall 2021 sizzles with season highlights including Hylton on the Hill concerts by The U.S. Army Band Downrange (9/18), Bumper Jacksons (9/19), The Grascals (9/26), and Carly Harvey’s Kiss & Ride (10/3). Hylton Presents features virtuosic music and commentary from pianist Jeffrey Siegel (10/10); big band era classics by the Metropolitan Jazz Orchestra (10/30); and Americana Music Awards 2019 Emerging Act of the year The War and Treaty (11/14) in a concert celebrating Veterans and the Arts. In December, two comic mavens—Jane Lynch (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel’s Sophie Lennon) and Kate Flannery (The Office’s Meredith) kick off the holidays with Jane Lynch’s A Swingin’ Little Christmas (12/5), followed by festive holiday favorites from Chanticleer (11/28) and the American Festival Pops Orchestra (12/10). In spring 2022, Hylton Presents showcases inspiring classical repertoire by The Polish Wieniawski Philharmonic Orchestra (2/5) and a hilarious radio-style production of Lucy Loves Desi: A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Sitcom (2/26) by L.A. Theatre Works that tells the true story behind America’s beloved comedy. Additionally, renowned Latinx dance organization Ballet Hispánico (2/19) will perform a retrospective of their five decades as a company in Noche de Oro: A Celebration of 50 Years, and, as an Artist-in-Residence, will work with the community through classes and workshops.
For our youngest audience members (and the young at heart!), the Hylton Family Series welcomes fifth-generation circus performer Gregory Popovich and his adorable, spotlight-stealing furry and feathered friends in Popovich Comedy Pet Theater (2/20); Grammy® Award-winning musical duo The Okee Dokee Brothers (3/20); and Paddington Bear in his Merchant Hall debut Paddington Gets in a Jam (4/3).
