Attention families! Don’t miss this season’s final installment of Hylton at Home Story Corner: Khalida and the Most Beautiful Song (5/15), a free, virtual story time collaboration between the Hylton Center and Prince William Public Library System. Virtual story times are designed to increase awareness of different performing art forms and artists through books. Readers will relate to Khalida's overscheduling frustrations as well as her joy as inspiration becomes art. Lush watercolor art showcases how one girl's determined pursuit of an idea rewards us all with the enduring magic of a beautiful song.
“We’ve had such an enjoyable time working with the Prince William Public Library System to identify and share stories we hope have introduced children to a variety of performing arts disciplines and notable people,” shares Hylton Center Education Coordinator Marit Majeske. “We hope these stories read by local artists and George Mason University faculty members have encouraged children to explore more through reading and maybe to create their own art!”
Khalida and the Most Beautiful Song is written and illustrated by Amanda Moeckel and read by Hylton Center Executive Board member, Sheyna Burt, with permission of Page Street Kids. This Story Corner is pre-recorded and can be viewed free of charge on Saturday, May 15 at 10:15 a.m. ET simultaneously on this webpage, the Hylton Center Facebook page, and YouTube channel, as well as on Prince William Public Library’s social media channels. Available for viewing until May 29, 2021.
