Darrell Green, associate athletic director at George Mason University, was known as the fastest man in the NFL during his 20-year Hall of Fame career with the Washington Football Team. Mason Athletic Director Brad Edwards’ nine-year NFL career included three as Green’s teammate. To say they took their recent mock race on GMU’s outdoor track seriously is an overstatement. What they took very seriously, though, was the message they sent about how physical distancing helps fight COVID-19. Who crossed the finish line first? Here’s a hint. After the race, Green said, “Always remember to stay six feet apart. Well, unless, of course, you finish six feet ahead.”
