Justin Sutters has been named George Mason University's Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges Faculty Fellow, serving on the Reaffirmation Leadership Team, the Provost's Office announced this week.
Sutters, an associate professor in the School of Art and director of the Graduate Art Education Program in the College of Visual and Performing Arts, brings extensive leadership and accreditation experience to the team. In addition, he has demonstrated experience in working with both faculty and administration to advance university initiatives.
“I am continually impressed with the development of Mason as a research institution and driver of culture and learning in the region," Sutters said. "The accreditation process and related enhancement plan is another opportunity to continue our trajectory as a world-class university that responds with intent to the current challenges and needs of our students.”
As part of the Reaffirmation Leadership Team, Sutters will represent the faculty, working closely with the director of accreditation and the other committee members to provide input, strategic direction, planning and leadership throughout the reaffirmation process.
As SACSCOC Fellow, Sutters will also serve as co-chair of the Quality Enhancement Plan (QEP) Development Committee—a pivotal component of the Reaffirmation initiative.
