Doctoral Candidate Lina Marmolejo Honored as Ruth D. Peterson Fellow for Racial and Ethnic Diversity

Criminology, Law, and Society doctoral candidate Lina Marmolejo has been named a 2020-21 Peterson Fellow for the American Society of Criminology.

The Ruth D. Peterson Fellowship for Racial and Ethnic Diversity is designed to encourage students of color, especially those from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in the field, to enter the field of criminology and criminal justice, and to facilitate the completion of their degrees. Lina’s dissertation work looks at pre-trial detention practices and processes in five Caribbean countries.

Staff Senate Nomination Period Now Open

Becoming a Staff Senator is a great way to get involved with the university community and to have an impact on your workplace. The senate provides many opportunities to learn how the university works and to collaborate with administrators and staff members outside your unit.

Nominate yourself or a colleague to join the Staff Senate! Terms begin in August and last for two years. 2020 nomination and election dates are below:

  • Nominations accepted through Friday, June 26, at 5 p.m.
  • Elections held July 13–24
