COVID-19 is not only changing how care is delivered, it is changing how students must prepare for health careers. The Department of Health Administration in the College of Health and Human Services is responding quickly to these evolving needs with a new course: Telehealth During COVID-19. Telehealth is becoming increasingly more common during the COVID-19 pandemic, as health care providers and patients seek efficient, effective, and convenient options for care. The College recently expanded its telehealth capabilities at the Mason and Partners Clinics and in their delivery of clinical social work, providing students with hands-on experience.
This transition to virtual care requires an understanding of the relevant applications of compliance, financing, quality, operational workflows, information technology, and change management. These topics, and many others, will be discussed in this new course.
HAP 594 is the first COVID-19 inspired course offered by the College’s Department of Health Administration and Policy. It will provide students with relevant skills and engaging discussion as unprecedented public health events unfold.
HAP 594 is offered in a synchronous format with weekly lectures and guest speakers over a five week period during Session C (July 6-August 8). The course meets on Tuesdays evenings 5:00-8:30 p.m. EDT and provides three academic credits that may be applied for continuing education credit by some accrediting agencies.
This course (HAP 594-C01 Telehealth in COVID 19, CRN 43761) is perfect for students interested in a public health career and for anyone who wishes to know more on the subject. HAP 594 is open to all undergraduate and graduate students, and current students can register through Patriotweb. Non-degree seeking students are also welcome to attend (apply as non-degree student in the Mason Admissions portal).
