Statewide Tornado Drill: March 17

The Annual Statewide Tornado Drill will occur on Tuesday, March 17, at 9:45 a.m.

Participation is optional, but strongly encouraged. This regional emergency drill provides a good opportunity to review response procedures if a tornado warning is issued for one or more Mason campuses.

To prepare for the drill, review Mason’s guidance on severe weather and tornadoes.

This drill will be announced via Mason Alert email and text message and will conclude at 10 a.m.

For questions about how you, your department, or class may participate, contact Environmental Health and Safety at safety@gmu.edu or 703-993-8448.

Transit Driver Appreciation Day: March 18

Join Mason Shuttles in celebrating Transit Driver Appreciation Day on Wednesday, March 18! It’s a wonderful time to celebrate our dedicated shuttle drivers.

Help us say thank you to these folks, with whom you share part of your work or school day, by sending us kind words about your experiences on Mason Shuttles. Your email compliment will enter you into a drawing for a $20 Starbuck’s gift card.

For more details, visit the website.

Sessions run through April 29. Tuesday sessions meet in the Johnson Center, Room G, and Wednesday sessions meet in the Johnson Center, Room 234.

Contact Katie Clare at kclare@gmu.edu with questions.

Reminder: Daily Complimentary Parking Passes

Eligible faculty and staff who participate in carpooling, vanpooling, Commuter Choice, or Bike Commuter Choice receive complimentary daily parking passes as part of these programs.

Daily passes are meant for one day of parking, so include a date on the pass when using it or risk a parking ticket. Parking and Transportation does not want this to happen to anyone, so take a moment and put the complete date on the daily pass you are using.

For questions, contact transpo@gmu.edu.
