Faye Taxman
George Mason University Professor Faye Taxman has received a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Division of Corrections and Sentencing of the American Society of Criminology.
Taxman is a University Professor and the director of the Center for Advancing Correctional Excellence (ACE!). She has been at Mason since 2007.
This award recognizes an individual’s distinguished scholarship in the area of corrections and/or sentencing over a lifetime. Recipients must have 20 or more years of experience contributing to scholarly research. At the award ceremony, Taxman was described as a scholarly "rock star" who has engaged with and moved the field of corrections for more than 30 years.
Taxman has been published more than 200 times. Her research is focused on the development of systems of care models that link the criminal justice systems with other health and other services, reengineering probation and parole supervision services and implementation science.
She has conducted experiments to examine different processes to improve treatment access and retention, assess new models of probation and develop and test new intervention within the criminal justice system.
Taxman has led major projects including the Justice Community Opioid Innovation Network (JCOIN) Coordinating and Translation Center, funded by the National Institutes of Health, as part of the NIH Helping to End Addiction Long-term (HEAL) initiative.
