George Mason University received several impressive rankings recently from U.S. News & World Report and The Princeton Review.
Mason is ranked No. 434 in U.S. News’ rankings of the 1,500 best global research universities. It is again ranked as a national green institution by Princeton Review.
In addition to its overall global ranking, Mason was ranked 160th by U.S News for social sciences and public health, 162nd for economics and business, 190th for space science, 311th for clinical medicine and 573rd for engineering.
The rankings differ from U.S. News’ national university rankings—Mason is ranked 153rd—in that they do not include things such as undergraduate and graduate admissions data and graduation rates. Instead, schools are rated in categories such as global and regional research reputation, publications, and the number of publications among the 10 percent most cited in the world in their respective fields.
The Princeton Review’s green ranking is based on information provided from the universities about their environmentally responsible policies, healthy quality of life for students on campus, and preparing students to be employed in a green economy, as well as student surveys.
