Presidential Search Community Session

A Presidential Search Community Session is scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 30, from 3:30 to 5 p.m. It will be held on the Fairfax Campus in the Hazel Conference Room (Merten Hall, Room 1201), and will be accessible through Webex (details below). This open session is an opportunity for the university community to provide comments to and/or ask questions of the committee co-chairs, Jimmy Hazel and Shannon Davis.

This event is open to the public and your attendance and engagement is encouraged.

Accounts Payable Direct Deposit Account Settings

Employees are strongly encouraged to establish an Accounts Payable Direct Deposit account via Patriot Web self-service. Review the instructions to establish this account.

Faculty and staff who have not established an Accounts Payable Direct Deposit will be contacted by email and given the opportunity to automatically “opt-in.” Further information about this process is available on the Fiscal Services website.

National Cybersecurity Awareness Month

October is National Cybersecurity Awareness Month (NCSAM).

On Wednesday, Oct. 30, the IT Security Office staff will host a kiosk in the Johnson Center from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. to share information and answer questions about online safety and security. Giveaways will be provided!

Check out a presentation from Kathy Laskey, professor in the Volgenau School of Engineering and associate director of the C4I Center, on Thursday, Oct. 17, at 3 p.m. in the Johnson Center, Room E.

Who's Walking Wednesday with Lewis Forrest

PatriotHacks Hackathon

PatriotHacks, a collegiate hackathon held at George Mason University in Fairfax, Virginia, is looking for mentors!

For 36 hours, students from around the world will convene at the MIX (Mason Innovation Exchange) to enjoy workshops, activities, and networking events while working on real world challenges during the hackathon. As a mentor, you’ll be able to guide our hackers, sharing your expertise, knowledge, and experience, all while enjoying awesome food!

Staying Safe: Traveling at Dusk

A reminder from Parking and Transportation that the days are growing shorter and it’s getting darker earlier. As we prepare to “Fall Back” with the end of Daylight Saving Time on Sunday, November 3 (at 2 a.m.), please keep in mind that it is difficult to see and be seen at dusk. Exercise care whether you are driving, biking, or walking.

Career Influencers Network Training for Faculty and Staff

University Career Services invites Mason faculty and staff to participate in the Career Influencers Network one-day training.

This initiative brings together faculty, staff, and administrators to learn how to best support students as they strive to become career-ready and achieve post-graduate success.

The one-day training is scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. (lunch will be provided). You must attend the entire training to become an official member of the Career Influencers Network.

DMV2Go on the Fairfax Campus: Nov. 5

Take care of your Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles business at a convenient Mason location. DMV2Go will be on the Fairfax Campus on Tuesday, Nov. 5, from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. in the Merten Hall parking lot.

Reporting Accidents

We want to make sure the Mason community stays safe! Please remember to report all accidents, injuries, or conditions that may cause harm to an individual or the university. When dangerous or potentially dangerous conditions are reported, the university can take appropriate action to protect the community.
