‘Mason Momentum’ fall budget town hall highlights university initiatives

On Wednesday, Sept. 11, Provost S. David Wu and Senior Vice President Carol Dillon Kissal provided an update on the fall budget and university goals for 2019-20. Held in Merten Hall on the Fairfax Campus, the town hall drew a crowd of about 150 faculty and staff, with more participating remotely from the SciTech and Arlington Campuses.

President Anne Holton gave opening remarks at the town hall, titled “Mason Momentum: Fall Update on the Budget, Financial Framework and Key University Initiatives.” She was followed by Provost Wu and SVP Kissal, who described key university initiatives.

These initiatives all fall under one of five categories: Access to Excellence, Thriving Together, Talent Ecosystem, Innovation Engine and Institutional Effectiveness.

The university leaders also provided an update on the Mason’s six-year operating plan and how it aligns with Virginia’s goals of innovation and investment, affordable access, student success and prosperity.
