If you are going to tour the Capitol Building in Washington, D.C., you may as well have a tour guide who used to work there. Former U.S. Rep. Barbara Comstock (R-Va.) recently led the participants of the summer-long Young Women’s Leadership Program, hosted for the first time by the Schar School of Policy and Government, to the U.S. Capitol Building for a tour and discussion about the American political process. Former Congresswoman Donna Edwards (D-Md.) joined the group.
The program, founded by Comstock in 2013, will take some 115 middle school and high school students from around the region this summer to meet and interact with women who hold leadership positions in a variety of fields, including politics, business, technology, military, law enforcement, philanthropy, and others. The nonpartisan program is free to those who enroll.
