More than 3,000 newly admitted students and their families were introduced to George Mason University campus culture on Sunday, April 14, during “Destination Mason: A Spring Preview.”

Prospective students had the opportunity to connect with faculty and students from their desired majors and gain an in-depth look at Mason’s programs and student organizations. They also had the chance to ask questions about living away from home, what college life is like and more.

The Green Machine kicked things off for the students and families with a performance at EagleBank Arena, and welcome remarks from Dean of Admissions Amy Takayama-Perez and Director of Undergraduate Admissions Melissa Bevacqua followed. Afterward, attendees toured campus, including the residence halls, and had a chance to sample food from Mason Dining.

This year, the spring preview coincided with Mason’s International Week celebrations, so students were able to see the flags in the Johnson Center representing some of the 130 countries that Mason’s students come from.

The campus community created a welcoming environment for the students and their families to experience what life will be like as a Mason Patriot. The admissions staff looks forward to welcoming the Class of 2023 again in the fall.
